Doris is on a mission to educate, empower, mentor, and effect change in the lives of women of color. Throughout her career, Doris has focused on expanding access to healthcare and higher education and on championing social justice and sexual and reproductive health for all. After nine years of working in non-profit spaces, Doris decided to venture off on a new path: creating The Melanin Collective

Kaitlyn Borysiewicz

Co-Founder, Communications Director

Kaitlyn leverages online outlets to disseminate information about the work we do. Communication is an essential part of creating change, it’s one way we are building our community. She also works at Georgetown University and uses her expertise to also support the work of various organizations including Collective Action for Safe Spaces, DC Abortion Fund, and Women’s Wire Weekly.

We are on a journey to educate, empower, and create transformational change in the lives of communities of women who are often pushed to the sidelines. Our mission is simple: We are a space for women of color We build empowering workshops that address areas of systematic racism in our lives, from workplace challenges to financial management, tailored to the experiences of women of color.
